Skate Lessons
Want to learn how to skate? Want to get some practice in before an event? Want to increase coordination and balance? Want someone to show you how its done? Butler Skateland offers skate lessons for kids AND adults!
Jim Turner is our skating instructor for kids, and adult lessons. Mr. Turner has been skating for over 50 years. He has been a USA champion six times! When he is not skating he is a teacher in the MPS school district. He is great with kids and an excellent teacher. Jim is the author of 2 amazing books about the history of rollerskating. He is also the founder of the museum of roller skating. Jim has been with us for over 30 years, and has also coached and still coaches many USA Champions!
Kids Skating Lessons
Learn the basics of how to roller skate. Learn forward and backward skating basics, or if you know the basics, start working on more advanced moves. We can teach you tricks, or just how to roll forward and even how to fall!
- Thursday Nights – 5pm to 6pm
- Lesson is $7 and Skate Rental is $4
- Lesson includes 6-8:30pm session
- Skatemates are FREE for the lesson
- Includes games for the kids
Adult Skating Lessons
Learn everything from the basics to advanced JB and Jam moves. This is geared towards adults 25 and over, who want help with their skating techniques. If you want to learn the basics, our instructor will personally guide you, allowing you to get around the rink. If you want to work on your jam moves or style, this is the place!
- Wednesday Nights – 6-7pm
- Lesson is $9 and Skate Rental is $4
- Lesson includes 7-10pm session
- Learn the basics of forward and backward
- Learn advanced JB and Jam Tricks
- Learn how to spin
Skatemate
These are used for kids who dont quite have the balance yet out on the skating floor. We rent them out every session. They are always $5 to rent for the whole session.
